August 2008 :

Très bon Accueil par Barbara, puis par Andrea. Nous nous sommes sentis rapidement très à l'aise et comme chez nous dans ce camp. On ne sait pas très bien dire pourquoi, c'est peut être du à la taille du lodge et à la gentillesse de tout le personnel.

Les chambres sont très bien, tente, sdb et terrasse, avec vue sur la rivière. Le soir nous sommes accompagnés par un "masaii" pour nous déplacer pour des raisons de sécurité.

La nourriture est très bonne et variée, toujours servie à table. Le soir, on dîne à chaque fois dans un endroit différent. Nous avons eu un diner "romantique" un peu isolé avec feu de camp.

Les activités sont très bien organisées: Game drive, walking safari, et boat safari. Nous avons eu également l'occasion de faire une après-midi pêche. Bien entendu, nous avons vu beaucoup d'animaux.

Chaque nouveau client a droit à un sundowner avec "champagne" le jour de son arrivée.

Le restaurant a été reconstruit, car il a été détruit lors de la dernière saison de pluie, l'ancien restaurant était un peu près du bord de la rivière, et il y a eu un éboulement.

Hello!
We 4 stayed at your Selous Impala Camp and then Mdonya Old River and were extremely pleased with our stays; we had not though that we get so close to the animals - and still feel comfortable. Naturally this was due to the expertise of the guides/drivers.
The best compliment we can give is that they became our "FRIENDS"!
We longed to meet them again each day, and then hear what they had in store for us.
I asked A LOT OF QUESTIONS - and all were answered - I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge they had - Giovanni is best described as a walking "encyclopedia"!!!
If anyone in our circle of friends are looking to go on safari - you can be sure I will steer them in your direction.

Hi there Barbara and Matteo, Thank you so much for making my stay
at Impala one of the best and most fun I've had at any African Camp I've stayed
at. A bit scary with the elephant coming to join me as I sunbathed on my
veranda but that made a good story when I got home. I loved the walk with the
surprise sundowners at the end of it.
I could have walked twice as far it was so lovely. The next camp was so
different  - it was all very quiet.
Many thanks again also special thanks to Mtoga for being such an
amazing guide, finding so many aninmals.

October 2008

we had the most fantastic four days at Selous Impala camp in August
and are keen to return. The setting is beautiful and the tents very
comfortable .We found all the staff extremely friendly and welcoming
and we learnt quite a bit of Swahili from one of them at meal
times ! The swimming pool was most welcome during the heat of the
day between game drives . The food was always excellent and we liked
the riverside setting of the restaurant - especially at sunset.
There is a good variety of safari trips at this camp - with boat, walking,
half-day and day safaris and we found the guides and
drivers very helpful and flexible in accomodating our requests and
trying to find things we were keen to see - thanks to you all for
being so patient ! Great to see elephants and giraffe crossing the
river and the bird life is breathtaking . The elephants in the camp
were occasisonally a bit worrying but they added to the excitment
and the Masai warriors were very good at escorting us to and from
our tent! Thanks again to all the staff who went to a lot of trouble
to give us an enjoyable and memorable stay

We stayed at two camps in Selous and Impala was by far our favourite. We felt it excelled on every level and were especially impressed with the food; but felt it was the incredible staff who made our stay so special. Chloe was amazing and we loved our waiter Mohammed who was so attentive and friendly. Dennis and Matola also ensured we saw the most amazing wildlife... we have more photos than we know what to do with! We missed everyone when we left, as well as the atmosphere (which was not replicated anywhere else we visited in Tanzania).

Please pass on our sincerest thanks to everyone at Impala, we will be recommending it and hope to return again ourselves.

"We loved Selous - the layout of the camp along the River was spectacular, the staff were all lovely and made a real effort to chat to every guest at the end of each day. Food was fantastic. The guides / rangers were very knowledgeable and made the days out in the Jeep really fascinating, and we met some lovely people who we've stayed in touch with.
We loved the walking safari and the boat safaris. The highlight was probably waking up at 3am to the sounds of an elephant crashing through the bush next to our tent, before he emerged in front of the veranda and proceeded to eat right outside the tent for the next 1/2 hour."

"They looked after us wonderfully well.  On our first night - we were the only people in camp - we walked over to the restaurant area and sat down and then the manager asked to accompany him into the bush.  We saw a few lights and wondered what it was all about and then we saw they had laid a table for us in the bush, with candles and Maasai serving us - very special.   We saw five different pride of lion, some prides more than once.  We got to within three yards of a pack of wild dog chilling out in the shade of a tree; we saw a baby giraffe not more than three or four days old, still with its umbilical chord; we saw a martial eagle nailing a baby impala and a baboon eating a baby impala. Thank you and everyone who worked to make this safari go without a hitch, it was much appreciated.”
